I am going to talk only a small bit about the history of cricket because like any history it can get a a bit boring. Although this is not the main topic of my blog I think it would be good to talk about it anyway.
Where and when cricket became popular as a sport has not yet been discovered but it is thought that it originated from Saxon or Norman times by children living in the French flanders. It has been said that cricket was around for a long time as a childrens game before it was taken up by adults. Cricket may have originated from bowls as it is a much older and quite similar sport. It is also classified as the worlds second most popular sport, behind as you may have guessed football.
The amount of balls in an over of cricket changed more than once throughout the years. It was firstly a 4 ball over then moving on to five ball over in 1889 which was then changed to a 6 ball over in 1900. For years in cricket there was no one wore helmets whilst batting but as the years moved on and the bowlers got quicker batsman thought it best to wear helmets, which has reduced the amount of injuries in cricket, but still hasn't diminished the threat of serious injury as shown in this video. But overall the amount of injuries in cricket has been reduced with the improving of padding and protection
